Wellington is the Northern Gateway, located in Larimer County, at the northernmost point of the I-25. This statutory town is a quiet community of around 8,500 residents, all of whom enjoy majestic views of the Rocky Mountains.

A playground for the outdoor enthusiast, Wellington also offers as much recreational opportunities as its larger neighbor, Fort Collins. The real treat, however, are the annual community events that pepper Wellington’s social calendar. These festivities help foster warm relations among the locale.

In the 1800s, Wellington served as a hub for travelers and wagon trains traveling to and from the communities of Fort Collins and Cheyenne (in Wyoming.) The town was officially established in 1902 and then incorporated three years after. It was named in honor of C.L. Wellington, a former employee of the Colorado and Southern Railroad.

Wellington is only about 3.5 square miles big, but the wide expanse that surrounds the area makes this lovely bedroom community seem larger than life. One-third of the land is relatively undeveloped.
